What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that the websites you visit send to your device, where they are stored and then sent back to the same websites on your next visit. Some are essential for the website to work (technical cookies); others are used to collect statistics or for advertising purposes and require your consent. This policy also covers similar tools, such as the browser's local storage.
Technical and necessary cookies
These are needed for the website to work and to remember your choices. They are set directly by Materia Innovation (first-party cookies) and do not require consent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie (random alphanumeric name) | Technical cookie – first party | Manages the browsing session and the secure submission of forms (protection against forged requests) | Until the browser is closed |
| Language cookie (random alphanumeric name) | Technical cookie – first party | Remembers the language you selected (Italian/English) | Until the browser is closed |
| mi_cookie_consent | Technical cookie – first party | Stores the choices made in the cookie banner, so that it is not shown on every page | 6 months |
Security cookies – reCAPTCHA
To protect the website's forms (catalogue request, newsletter sign-up, training course enquiries) from automated and abusive submissions, we use Google reCAPTCHA, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. These cookies serve a security purpose and do not require consent under the guidelines of the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali), but we list them here for transparency.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _GRECAPTCHA | Security cookie – third party (google.com domain) | Distinguishes real users from automated software on the website's forms | Up to 6 months |
Using Google reCAPTCHA involves loading scripts from Google and may involve the transfer of some data to the United States, on the basis of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Standard Contractual Clauses. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy; terms of service: policies.google.com/terms.
Statistics cookies – subject to consent
These help us understand, in aggregate form, which pages are read and how to improve the website. They are set only after you click “Accept” in the banner; until then the Google Analytics script is not even loaded.
Google Analytics 4 – Property G-QQGPHMGTZD – provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Analytics cookie – third party (set on the website's domain) | Distinguishes visitors anonymously, so that the same person is not counted twice | 24 months |
| _ga_QQGPHMGTZD | Analytics cookie – third party (set on the website's domain) | Maintains the state of the measurement session | 24 months |
We have configured Google Analytics to minimise the data collected: IP addresses are neither logged nor stored, Google Signals and ad personalisation are disabled, data is not shared with Google for other purposes and is retained for 14 months. The use of Google Analytics may involve the transfer of some data to the United States, on the basis of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Standard Contractual Clauses. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Profiling and advertising cookies
We do not use any. The website hosts no advertising banners, social media pixels or retargeting tools. The links to our LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube profiles are plain links: they do not set any cookies unless you visit those platforms, which apply their own policies.
How to give, change or withdraw consent
On your first visit a banner appears with two equally prominent buttons, “Reject” and “Accept”. Closing the banner with the “X” keeps technical cookies only, as if you had clicked “Reject”. Your choice is remembered for 6 months, after which the banner is shown again.
You can change your mind at any time:
- by clicking Cookie preferences, also available from the link at the bottom of every page: withdrawal takes effect immediately and the Google Analytics cookies are removed;
- by deleting cookies in your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge);
- by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Blocking technical cookies in your browser settings may prevent some parts of the website from working properly, such as submitting forms or selecting the language.
